Financial Analyst

 

Reporting to: Financial Controller 

Location/ Based: Bray (some working from home will be available as part of our 

return to the office post Covid-19 and future hybrid working model)

Nature of Position: Permanent

In recent years DCC Oil Ireland (Emo Oil) has grown our business with the acquisition of Campus Oil, 

Jones Oil, two lubricant businesses, and the establishment of the Certa pay @ pump network.

Due to recent growth and expansion, we are seeking an enthusiastic and ambitious Financial Analyst 

to join our Finance team.

Main Purpose of the Role:

The Financial Analyst will work closely with the Financial Controller in analysing costs, budgeting and 

forecasting to ensure the achievement of financial KPIs, and will work with the business/ operations

to provide financial support and assistance.

Responsibilities:

Commercial Reporting and Analysis

• Daily/Weekly/Monthly sales, margin and commercial reporting to business

• Provide variance analysis/commentary to leadership deriving key insights from reports to 

drive proactive and good decision making

• Month end channel reporting and analysis including commentary

• Margin tracking and estimation for management accounts 

• Month end margin reconciliation and variance investigation

• Sales KPI reporting

• Ad-hoc financial modelling across all channels

Business Partnering

• Provide head of operations with analysis to understand true fleet utilisation, operational 

efficiency and truck profitability

• Support operations in management of truck maintenance and repair budget

• Partner commercial team with new business initiatives – new customer acquisition, pricing 

strategies, commercial contracts/acquisitions

• Assist commercial team with annual supply tendering process

• Identify process improvements and customer engagement enhancements using technology 

solutions

• Business partner with commercial and operations team to course correct as required

Forecasting and Budgeting

• Play a leading role in preparation of annual budgets

• Preparation of budget reforecast as they arise during year

Continuous Improvement 

• Seek best practice and accuracy in all reports, forecasts and actual submissions

• Bring fresh ideas to business analysis to improve insight

• Explore ways to get best use of existing reporting tools through better understanding of its 

functionality around automation/report scheduling

• Explore the introduction of new tools that add value to the business

About You:

Education/ Skills/ Experience/ required:

• Part qualified/ fully qualified Accountant

• Relevant industry-based experience in a comparable accounts role

• Proficient/ Advanced in MS Excel 

• Experience in commercial reporting desirable but not essential

• Ability to display initiative and have a strong commercial awareness to be able to propose 

commercial ideas that generate positive results for the business.

• Possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to tailor 

communication styles to suit the situation; must be able to interact positively with key 

stakeholders, both internally and externally. Strong business partnering skills are essential.

• Highly organised with the ability to multi-task while performing in a fast-paced environment

• Confident with the ability to work in a focused, committed, diligent and professional manner 

to deliver high quality results using planning and organisational skills

• Competent to consistently deliver accurate and relevant information against important 

business deadlines.
